This is very often when you encounter this problem for end users that IM conversation is not getting save in Outlook clients. For troubleshooting, You may have reinstalled Lync client and Outlook on desktop/laptop. Later on you ended with changing desktop/laptop without any fix.

I found below steps to resolve this problem which was causing due to MAPI sync in Outlook and Lync.

1. Open Outlook without the Lync client open.

2. Delete the Conversation History folder (export it to file if there are any conversations in there that you would like to save).

3. Close Outlook.

4. Make sure that the Lync client and the Outlook clients are completely closed (no Oulook.exe or Communicator.exe processes in Task Manager).

5. Click Start, Run and type “outlook /resetfolders” in search for folders of files

6. Start the Lync client and have a conversation.

7. Wait for up to 5 minutes for the conversation to be saved to Conversation History Folder.

If this does not work, try below steps:

5. Uninstall the Lync client completely.

6. Re-install the Lync client

7. Start the Lync client and have a conversation.

8. Wait for up to 5 minutes for the conversation to be saved to Conversation History Folder.
